One of my favorite things to do is to get off the beaten path. There are so many places in New England to hit between shows, shops, galleries and you never know where you’ll find that-one-of-a-kind piece.
I can’t tell you how many times someone will say to me “where did you find that?” One spot I love to hit is the SOWA Vintage Market in Boston’s South End neighborhood. This indoor market takes place every Sunday from 10-4 all year long.

I was recently on the hunt for some unique accessories for a friends home and I found the indoor market to be loaded with one-of-a-kinds in furniture, accessories, art work, prints and retro clothing. What fun!
Stephanie Pernice, one of the exhibitors/creators of SOWA is on the hunt as well, offering up new finds each week. Whether a lucite bench, a vintage crystal chandelier, mounted antlers, metal and wood picnic benches Stephanie has an eclectic mix of items that would really bring big personality to a room.
There are many vendors inside the brick building offering a wide array of choices. John Booth owns Home Interior Consignment in Brookfield, Connecticut but also shows his wares at the SOWA market. After a renovation on his Cape Cod antique home he left nothing to waste. John turned his renovation into inspiration. During the remodeling process old floorboards that were taken up were reused when he realized he could create tables that would be unique, sturdy and beautiful pieces.
The rich color of the wood is magnified by the thick varnish he applied to the table top.

What a spectacular centerpiece this table would be in a kitchen or dining area! It’s a bold statement that would bring much character to a room. The two tables John had for sale came in a 6 foot length and a 4 foot length. I love the story behind these tables with the reclaimed wood. You can reach John Booth at 203-885-2596 or visit him on Sunday’s at SOWA.
